This is misleading bullshit because the “standard body armor” is soft kevlar. There’s no steel or ceramic plate, which limits it to stopping pistol bullets and most shotgun shells. However, basically any rifle can zip clean through both sides easily. A really good crossbow could probably pierce that vest. So why do the police wear them? It’s because the overwhelming majority of gun crimes are committed with crappy old pistols, not rifles.
This law is literally trying to ban EVERYTHING, which is what most people in favor of gun control have always promised wouldn’t happen. They say nobody want to take your guns, but then they introduce backstabbing bills like this, which try to do exactly that in the name of protecting the same racist cops they were protesting yesterday.
